Their Impact: From disaster response, to lifeguard training, to round-the-clock emergency assistance, and communications between military members and their families, the Grand Canyon Chapter of American Red Cross serves the more than 4.4 million people in Arizona’s Apache, Coconino, Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai, and Yuma counties.
Our Role: Assess current fundraising operation; develop fundraising and community engagement plans; lead prospect identification; and determine development staff requirements.
Anytown Arizona | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Has served over 30,000 Arizona youth since 1957, providing development and leadership programs that focus on diversity awareness, social justice, and personal empowerment. Goal is to encourage peaceful communities through youth where hatred and bigotry cannot take root.
Our Role: Preliminary work conducted on a development assessment, creation of annual and long-range fundraising plans, board training, and direction of an annual giving campaign to achieve immediate and long-term financial needs.
Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: For over 60 years, the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been the premier advocate for the Arizona Hispanic small business community and a valuable and trusted resource to its corporate and strategic partners. By providing programs, seminars, and networking opportunities, as well as scholarship opportunities through the efforts of the nonprofit AZHCC Foundation, the AZHCC is a vital link to the growing power and influence of the Latino business and consumer market and the health and prosperity of the state and national economy
Our Role: Work with Chamber leadership to create a position paper articulating the vision for The Business Center for Economic Diversity and Excellence and its role and potential impact on the quality of life in the state of Arizona.
Arizona’s Children Association | Phoenix and Tucson, AZ
Their Impact: One of the largest nonprofit agencies in the state, Arizona’s Children Association has been positively affecting Arizona’s children for over 97 years by offering foster care, adoption, behavioral health, prevention programs, and other child welfare services to more than 45,000 children and their families annually across the state of Arizona.
Our Role: External relations management consulting services.
Assistance League of East Valley | Chandler, AZ
Their Impact: One of 120 Assistance League chapters nationwide that develop, fund, and staff community-based philanthropic programs powered solely by volunteers. “Operation School Bell” provides new school clothing and hygiene supplies (Looking Good kits) to kindergarten through sixth grade students identified as ‘in need’ by their school districts.
Our Role: Non-traditional capital campaign feasibility study which included the exploration of funding opportunities with immediate leadership prospects.
Benevilla (The New Face of Interfaith Community Care)
| Surprise, AZ
Their Impact: Through a network of six West Valley adult day centers, Benevilla provides people of all ages with support and educational services, a comprehensive care-management program, volunteer services program, and social activities, including an intergenerational day care program where children have the unique opportunity to interact with older adults.
Our Role: Completion of the second phase of a capital campaign; develop an annual fundraising plan and program; and establish a planned giving/endowment initiative.
Catholic Healthcare West Foundation – East Valley | Chandler, AZ
Their Impact: Part of the Catholic Healthcare West system, the eighth largest not-for-profit hospital provider in the nation. CHW delivers compassionate, high-quality, affordable health care services, particularly advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable as a key part of its spiritual-related mission.
Our Role: Assessment of the foundation’s fundraising operation and campaign feasibility study for Chandler Regional Hospital.
Central Arizona Shelter Services | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Arizona’s largest shelter and service center for homeless people in Arizona, serving 6,000 men, women, and children annually. Vista Colina Emergency Family Shelter is a 30-unit apartment complex that provides safe housing for homeless families with children.
Our Role: Fundraising audit and assessment, input on organizational structure and staffing priorities, and executive search. In association with Kellenberger Consulting.
Father Wasson Legacy Endowment | Arlington Heights, IL
Their Impact: Provides long-term financial stability for Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos International, a Christian mission that provides a permanent family and home for orphaned, abandoned, and other at-risk children who live in conditions of extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Our Role: Facilitation of strategic planning session with the international Board of Directors and creation of outline plans and reports.
Fresh Start Women’s Foundation | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Helps women facing life challenges to help themselves through the Jewell McFarland Lewis-Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center. One example: Women can obtain free assistance from staff attorney, legal assistant, and certified legal document preparer specializing in domestic-relations cases such as divorce, child custody, and child support.
Our Role: Assessment of fundraising operation and executive search for Director of Development.
Friends of the Orphans | Arlington Heights, IL
Their Impact: Dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children through their support of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) network of orphanages in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Our Role: Preparation for and facilitation of an international strategic planning retreat which led to a comprehensive three-year strategic plan. Developed and delivered a national fundraising training program for affiliate network.
Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) | Los Angeles, CA
and New York, NY 
Their Impact: Changing people's hearts and minds about the LGBT community by influencing what they see in the media. Promotes and ensures fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of LGBT people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
Our Role: Assessment of the development operation, infrastructure, and organizational structure to strengthen its position in the philanthropic marketplace and optimize the impact of the fundraising operation.
Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills | Carefree, AZ
Their Impact: Nationally-recognized affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a faith-based, global, affordable housing builder. Works in partnership with people from all walks of life, building and renovating homes for Arizona families in need within the local community.
Our Role: Creation and implementation of a campaign plan for the organization’s unique challenge campaign, ongoing counsel during the campaign, board development and training, strategic planning. Subsequent work involved conducting a fundraising feasibility study to determine community perception and to evaluate the viability of a capital campaign. Capital campaign planning and management services currently being provided.
Humane Society of Central Arizona (formerly Payson Humane Society) | Payson, AZ
Their Impact: Provides shelter, food, care, and promotes adoptions for the area's homeless and abandoned animals. Promotes animal foster care, adoptions, the spaying and neutering of pets, and education on animal care and responsibilities.
Our Role: Campaign feasibility study, campaign fundraising and communications plans for new animal shelter.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona, the organization’s founding chapter, has granted wishes to more than 3,500 Arizona children with life-threatening medical conditions. A worldwide phenomenon, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, its Chapters, and volunteers have enriched the lives of more than 250,000 children around the world.
Our Role: Review the Chapter’s fundraising plan, conduct an assessment of performance against that plan, and provide insight and recommendations to optimize fundraising performance.
One in Ten | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Provides a safe environment for LGBTQ youth to develop positive self-acceptance through life enhancing programs.
Our Role: Strategic planning; board development and training; creation and implementation of long-range plans for marketing and communications, community alliances and partnerships, and fundraising. In association with Kellenberger Consulting.
Phoenix Youth at Risk | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Transforms the lives of at-risk youth, unlocking futures so that youth in trouble do not become adults in trouble. Since 1987, Phoenix Youth at Risk has positively impacted the lives of approximately 2,000 at-risk youth.
Our Role: Board development and annual campaign management.
Planned Parenthood Arizona | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Planned Parenthood promotes and protects every person's access to sexual health and well-being, to reproductive choices, and to building healthy, strong families.
Our Role: Intensive work to accelerate capital campaign and grow operational fundraising through the creation and implementation of comprehensive short- and long-term fundraising plans, board development and volunteer leadership strategies, policies and procedures; strengthening of the fundraising infrastructure; prospect development; staff reorganization; advice and counsel to the President and CEO.
Raising Special Kids | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Raising Special Kids is an organization of families helping families of children with the full range of disabilities and special health care needs in Arizona through programs and services that are provided free of charge, including parent-to-parent support, training, information, and individual assistance.
Our Role: Research, planning, and coaching to establish the organization’s first comprehensive development program.
San Francisco AIDS Foundation | San Francisco, CA
Their Impact: To end the HIV epidemic in the city where it began, and eventually everywhere. Established in 1982, the Foundation’s mission is the radical reduction of new infections through education, advocacy and direct services for prevention and care, confronting HIV in communities most vulnerable to the disease.
Our Role: Research and planning to establish a more formalized and comprehensive development program, expanding beyond their world-class events into comprehensive development activities, including individual and institutional major gifts strategies and planned giving.
Scottsdale Prevention Institute | Scottsdale, AZ
Their Impact: Works to prevent underage drinking, the use of illegal substances and tobacco, and unacceptable behavior by children and families through educational programs and crisis support in schools, communities, and the workplace. Includes the acclaimed bilingual community program, “El Centro de la Familia” (The Family Center).
Our Role: Facilitation of strategic planning session focusing on the organization’s fundraising capabilities.
Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services | Scottsdale, AZ
Their Impact: Provides opportunities, resources, and services to persons with disabilities so they can achieve personal, social, and economic independence. Serves more than 130 adults each day with learning disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, and other mental, physical, or sensory challenges.
Our Role: Assessment of organizational capacity and opportunities for growth, and development of strategic and business plans.
Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center | Phoenix, AZ 
Their Impact: Provides services and support to children and families affected by autism, while searching for answers to solve the mysteries surrounding the disorder. More than 5,000 children and parents are supported each year.
Our Role: Assessment of current fundraising operation, creation of long-range and annual fundraising plans, and interim executive management.
Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: The largest wellness, education, behavioral health, nutrition support, and clinical trial center dedicated to fighting HIV and AIDS in the Southwestern United States.
Our Role: Research, interviews, focus groups, and forums to engage key stakeholders and create a shared vision for a new community center; campaign preparation and planning services for the subsequent capital and strategic growth campaign.
St. Luke’s Health Initiatives: Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Builds and funds collaborative nonprofit alliances and sector partnerships. Nonprofits assess their most important issues and form teams around those issues; each team is then matched to an experienced SLHI-funded consultant who coaches and mentors the group over time. Processes of sharing, networking, troubleshooting, and developing solutions produces stronger community connections and organizational results.
Our Role: Assisted six nonprofit organizations with definition of roles, responsibilities, and budget for a potential collaboration, and with preparation for group presentation to potential funding sources.
Tempe Community Council/Tempe Community Foundation | Tempe, AZ
Their Impact: Serving the community since 1972, Tempe Community Council works in partnership with the City of Tempe and community organizations to serve as a planner, advocate, and resource to improve the funding and policies affecting human services in Tempe and surrounding communities.
Our Role: Assess operations and structure; identify funding priorities and opportunities; create initial case for support; provide recommendations for Board and staff development, conduct an endowment campaign feasibility study.
The Wellness Community – Arizona | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: The Wellness Community’s mission is to provide educational and psycho-social support programs for people and their loved ones diagnosed with cancer. In a home-like environment, The Wellness Community provides support to empower people with cancer to gain the tools to take control, make good decisions, and harness their internal courage, strength and hope to fight for recovery.
Our Role: Annual and strategic growth campaign consulting services, including campaign volunteer leadership; infrastructure, work plan, and marketing materials; prospect research and cultivation and solicitation strategies, and proposal development.
UMOM New Day Centers | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Helps homeless families in the community break the cycle of homelessness by providing food, shelter, and the tools to build a bridge to self-sufficiency. Centers offer education, recreation, health screenings and assessments, hygiene items, resources for financial assistance, job training, medical services, legal assistance, and more.
Our Role: Multi-tiered capital campaign consulting services, including campaign volunteer leadership for each of two phases; assistance with government bond process, infrastructure, work plan, and marketing materials; prospect research and cultivation and solicitation strategies, and proposal development. Ongoing capital campaign management and organizational support, and strategic planning.
United Way of Northern Arizona | Flagstaff, AZ
Their Impact: Improves lives by mobilizing communities and partnering with other organizations to make lasting changes in community conditions throughout northern Arizona. Focus on basic areas of education, income, and health.
Our Role: Creation of a strategic plan for a comprehensive fundraising operation, expanding fundraising beyond the traditional Employee Workplace Campaign to include major and planned gift fundraising.
Valley Forward | Phoenix, AZ
Their Impact: Valley Forward Association brings business and civic leaders together to convene thoughtful public dialogue on regional issues and to promote cooperative efforts to improve the environment and livability of communities in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
Our Role: Assist VFA as they initiate Arizona Forward, a public interest coalition that will influence environmental and quality of life decisions throughout Arizona, including develop initial case statement, conduct market research throughout the state of Arizona, and support and guide the work of the Arizona Forward Task Force.
