IMPACT: Friends of the Orphans helps transform the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children in Latin America and the Caribbean through their support of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) network of orphanages.

ISSUE: This international organization’s Board of Directors felt the time was right to move forward with a comprehensive strategic planning process, even while the organization was concurrently searching for a new CEO who would carry out the plan. 

SOLUTION: The Phoenix Philanthropy Group facilitated an international strategic planning retreat for Friends of the Orphans' Board of Directors. We conducted initial market research and constituent interviews; provided an assessment of organizational operations; created a customized planning process; and guided the creation of a new three-year strategic plan. Based on this new plan and the strong working relationship developed with the Board and new CEO, Friends of the Orphans subsequently asked The Phoenix Philanthropy Group to create and conduct a national fundraising training program for staff and Board members around the country.

RESULT: The Friends of the Orphans’ strategic plan is being implemented across the country, resulting in a more sophisticated, comprehensive, and expanded fundraising operation. Our complementary training program for staff and volunteer leadership is strengthening their capability in major gift fundraising.
